01.07.2025: Inside Juggling is nominated for the Cologne Dance and Theater Award

Every year since 1990, the Cologne Dance and Theatre Awards have honoured the best productions from Cologne's dance and theatre scene. At the same time, they draw national attention to the diversity of this scene, which is unique in Germany. On average, 25 productions are nominated from around 120 productions. All professional dance, children's and youth theatre ensembles as well as all other independent theatre groups from Cologne that have performed their play at least three times in Cologne are eligible to apply. Productions by the city of Cologne's theatres are excluded, unless the city's theatres are acting purely as a venue or cooperation partner. Each of the now eight prizes has an expert jury, regulations and its own sponsors. The prizes are currently endowed with a total of 47,500 euros.

The Cologne Circus Prize will be awarded for the first time in 2025. It is endowed with €5,000, awarded by Atemzug e.V. and provided by the KunstSalon Foundation. Two productions from the diverse world of Cologne's contemporary circus were nominated by the jury (Angie Hiesl, Karina Syndicus and Jenny Patschovsky):

INSIDE JUGGLING. An experiment with clubs and camera. A production by Hippana.Maleta.  Co-production: studiobühnekoeln and T-Werk Potsdam. Director: Jonas Schiffauer. Performance: Liza van Brakel. In the TanzFaktur

CARROUSEL. The anniversary show of Cirque Bouffon. Production: Cirque Bouffon Director: Frédéric Zipperlin, Co-director: Helena Bittencourt

The 36th Cologne Dance and Theatre Awards ceremony will take place on 1 December at 7.30 pm in the KOMED Saal in the Mediapark.
